Why Most Christian Companies Never Hit Consistent P&L Crossover
P&L crossover = consistent, predictable profit. The business funds Kingdom priorities and family legacy without heroics.
Yet most owners reverse God’s order:
- Ops eats 100–110 % (rework, delays, haste).
- Whatever’s left → maybe tithe.
- Profit? Someday.
Here are three rules about Profit:
- Profit is a coefficient of productivity.
- Profit is a lagging indicator.
- Profit is the bodycount after the battle.
You cannot obtain profit unless the operational bleed is fixed.
Chasing numbers is like chasing cats. If you do catch them, they rarely stay—and they’re a bigger pain in the ass to keep than they’re worth.
Produce numbers. Don’t chase them.
Malachi 3:10 is radical invitation: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse… Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates…”
Luke 16:10–11 is radical candor: Faithful in little (worldly wealth) = entrusted with much (true riches).
Cash bleed isn’t just operational failure. It’s unfaithfulness in the small things Jesus warned about.
We declare increase while tolerating waste.
We sow seed while ops consumes the harvest.
10-10-80 flips the script. It enforces Biblical priority before the enemy steals it.
How the 10-10-80 Rule Works
Simple. Unbreakable. Covenant.
Every deposit:
- 10 % Tithe – Off the top. First fruits. Church, missions, Kingdom giving. Non-negotiable.
- 10 % Profit – Next. Owner draw, tax reserve, reinvestment, legacy build. Locked.
- 80 % Ops – Everything else: payroll, materials, overhead, marketing. Live within it.
No “borrowing back.” No “when we can afford it.”
If ops can’t live on 80 %, the bleed is exposed—go upstream: document processes, align rheostats, eliminate rework (exactly what we covered Weeks 1–2).
Quantitative guardrails:
- 13-week cash forecast every Monday (Week 2 tool).
- AR: Zero over 45 days (personal calls).
- AP: On time for discounts, never early unless profitable.
- Monthly Scorecard: Track Tithe %, Profit %, Ops % like oxygen.

Malachi 3:10 – Test God in tithe; He opens floodgates. Luke 16:10–11 – Faithful in worldly wealth = true riches. Deuteronomy 8:18 – God gives power to produce wealth; waste dishonors. Proverbs 21:5 – Diligent plans lead to abundance. 1 Corinthians 14:40 – All things decently and in order.
